JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The beds in the Jefferson County Justice Center won't remain empty much longer.
The jail has been cleared to bring back Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees.
This is good news for government offices in the county who have been operating for months without any cash flow.
County board Chairman Robert White says the Immigration Customs Enforcement agency removed prisoners from the county detention facility back in December.
White says ICE had been conducting audits.
White says during the medical audit, ICE officials noticed deficiencies concerning documentation on several medical records and started investigating.
White went on to say ICE became concerned with the county's ability to provide medical care to detainees.
