Redhawks baseball swept in doubleheader

(KFVS) - The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks lost both games of their Sunday doubleheader to Jacksonville State, 4-3 in 10 innings and 5-2 in seven innings.

The Redhawks fall to 20-25, 12-12 in the OVC where they currently sit in 6th place.

In game one, SEMO took at 3-2 lead in the 6th inning when Clayton Evans reached base on an error allowing Brandon Boggetto to score. JSU tied the game in the next frame, when Andrew Bishop hit a solo home run off Will Spitzfaden. Spitzfaden pitched 8 innings, allowing 3 earned runs and 8 hits.

The Gamecocks took the lead in the top of the 10th inning on a sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the frame, the Redhawks left the tying run on third to fall 4-3.

In game two of the double header scheduled for just 7 innings, the game stayed nodded at one until the top of the 7th. JSU scored 5 runs in the frame, going on to sweep the series.

Southeast heads to Columbia to play Missouri on Tuesday.
