CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Monday marks the start of a big million plus dollar project in Cape Girardeau. It is one that may alter or delay your route to work or school when construction begins.

Crews are putting in a roundabout where Lexington meets Route W.

If you want to travel the length of Lexington until it turns into Mount Auburn, you may need extra time, but you won't have to alter your route.

However, if you want to take Kingsway that street will be closed.

It is a $1.5 million project that crews hope to have it finished in October.

The most important thing is to watch out for highway workers and engineers. They want you to take it slow and watch out for crews working.

Again, if you live in one of the neighborhoods along Lexington or across Kingshighway off Mount Auburn, you won't be cut off.

But, the Kingsway side will have to go around.

If weather permits, Missouri Department of Transportation crews and contractors will be out Monday. If not, construction will begin as soon as possible.
