PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Police say a Paducah man is facing charges in connection to a reported rape of a 68-year-old woman in 2012.

Jeffery L. Furlow, Sr., 42, of Paducah was charged Tuesday with first degree rape, first degree sodomy and first degree burglary.

According to investigators, the reported rape happened at the woman's home in May 2012.

Paducah police say the woman told officers she awoke to find a man standing in the doorway of her bedroom.

According to investigators, after being attacked, the woman used a notification device to call for help and the man fled.

Evidence was gathered at the scene and sent to the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab.

Detectives were notified on Tuesday, that evidence produced a DNA match to Furlow, according to investigators.

Police say after they arrived at Furrow's home he fled on foot.

Furlow was shortly caught by police, questioned at the police department and later charged.

He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
