A Ripley County woman was sentenced to two life sentences this afternoon at a hearing at the Shannon County Courthouse. Melissa Youngblood will serve two life sentences in prison without eligibility of probation or parole for two counts of first degree murder.

It's a sad day for music fans out there. Richie Havens, the folk singer and guitarist who was the first performer at Woodstock, died today at age 72. His family said in a statement he died of a heart attack in New Jersey. Havens was born in Brooklyn.
