April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. One week ago, we brought you the story about a new report detailing the increase in child abuse cases across the state of Illinois. Tonight with continuing coverage, Arnold Wyrick was in Carbondale where crowds gathered to join the Million March Against Child Abuse. You can tune in tonight at 9 and 10 for more.

A Ripley County woman was sentenced to two life sentences this afternoon at a hearing at the Shannon County Courthouse. Melissa Youngblood will serve two life sentences in prison without eligibility of probation or parole for two counts of first degree murder.

Scott County authorities are investigating a train derailment in Rockview. According to the Scott County Sheriff's Office, five cars are off the tracks and no one was injured. You can click here for more information.

Allison Twaits reported earlier today, that some in Illinois are proposing lowering the voting age. The proposal that made its way to the senate wants 17-year-olds to fill out the ballots in primary elections.

It's a sad day for music fans out there. Richie Havens, the folk singer and guitarist who was the first performer at Woodstock, died today at age 72. His family said in a statement he died of a heart attack in New Jersey. Havens was born in Brooklyn.
