KYTC places lane and load width restriction on Cumberland River Bridge

TRIGG COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to place a lane and load width restriction on the US 68/KY 80 Lake Barkley/Cumberland River Bridge at Canton in Trigg County starting Monday, April 22, 2013.

This lane restriction with a maximum 8 foot load width is to allow deck patching on the bridge structure.

The US 68/KY 80 Lake Barkley/Cumberland River Bridge, also known as the Lawrence Memorial Bridge and The Canton Bridge, is located at US 68 mile point 8.824 at the eastern entrance to Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area.

Motorists can expect to encounter one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers between about 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., each day.

This work is expected to take 3 to 4 days to complete.

The US 68/KY 80 Cumberland River/Lake Barkley Bridge carries approximately 3,800 vehicles across Lake Barkley/The Cumberland River in an average day.

The bridge is at Cumberland River navigational mile point 63.1.
