Lone Oak teen dies after crash

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A Lone Oak teenager died after a crash in McCracken County Thursday.

Carson Oakley, 18, of Lone Oak was driving on Highland Church Road when she crashed in the 700 block just before 8 a.m.

Oakley was driving westbound on Highland Church Road when her 2000 Nissan Maxima dropped off the right side of the road as she was going around a curve, according to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department.

Oakley overcorrected, traveled partially across the centerline, overcorrected again and the car went into a ditch, went airborne, and rolled.

The car landed on a wooden fence and trapped Oakley in the car.

Oakley was taken to Baptist Hospital, then Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee where she died at 4 a.m. Friday.

Funeral arrangements have not been made.

The family wished to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers over the past two days. Oakley's organs are also going be donated.
