CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Students from across southeast Missouri took part in the 35th Annual Math Field Day at Southeast Missouri State Tuesday.
More than 600 students compete in all areas of math including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and word problems.
Students say while not everyone considers math "cool," they really enjoy the challenge.
"Well, I haven't been dumped in a trash can yet so that's nice," said Poplar Bluff 9th grade student Nickia Hickman. "Math is probably one of the most challenging things to people and people like to overcome challenges. And so I'm one of those people who if I see a challenge, I'm going to go after it til I accomplish it."
The top three students in the individual categories got a medal.
The top three schools received plaques.
