Funeral services announced for mother of 4 killed in crash

BENTON, IL (KFVS) -

Funeral services have been announced for the  mother of four who was killed in a crash near Benton Saturday.

According to Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler, 24-year-old Kelley Dewitt, of Benton, was killed in a single vehicle crash on Forrest Baptist Church Road.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Brady Cemetery, Akin, Illinois.

According to the funeral home, memorial contributions may be made to the Eli Gifford Fund, C/O State Bank of Whittington, 200 N. Main, Benton, Illinois 62812.

Franklin County deputies were dispatched to the scene just east of the intersection of South Forrest Baptist Church road around 10 p.m. Saturday.

Three women were in the vehicle when the crash occurred. The driver was airlifted to an Evansville, Indiana hospital. One passenger was airlifted to a St. Louis, Mo. area hospital. Authorities say Dewitt was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones, the driver, Melissa M. Beasley, 29, of Benton was taken by Air Evac to an Evansville hospital. A passenger, Kristi K. Boyer, 28, of Benton, was taken by Air Evac to a St. Louis hospital. 

Sheriff Jones says charges are pending. He says alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Dewitt was the mother of four children: a seven, five, three and 1-year-old.

Franklin County deputies, West City first responders, Abbott Ambulance, West Frankfort Ambulance and the Franklin County Corner's Office all responded to the crash.
