(AP) - Corey Walden scored 22 of his career-high 29 points in the second half to help Eastern Kentucky upset top-seeded Belmont 79-73 Saturday night for the Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship and an NCAA tournament berth. The Colonels won their seventh straight game in clinching their first OVC tournament title since 2007 and their eighth trip to the NCAAs overall.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Montrezl Harrell scored 20 points, Russ Smith recorded a career-high 13 assists and No. 11 Louisville routed No. 19 Connecticut 81-48 on Saturday to claim a share of the American Athletic Conference championship. Harrell added 11 rebounds and several thunderous dunks to help the Cardinals finish tied with No. 15 Cincinnati atop the upstart league. A coin flip will determine the top seed in the conference tournament.
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - Shoni Schimmel scored 15 points and Antonita Slaughter added 14 to lead third-ranked Louisville to an easy 88-43 win over Houston on Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference. Sara Hammond added 11 points - all in the first 8 minutes - for the Cardinals.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Artem Anisimov scored with 6:25 remaining in the third period and Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 1-0 victory over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night. It was Bobrovsky's third shutout of the season for Columbus, which has won four of five.
