Pink Up: April Monthly Reminder

Good morning to you! It's time again to think Pink Up. Breast cancer is a leading cause of cancer death in U.S. women. Take the time today and on the 12th of every month to do a self-exam.

Women are told to get a mammogram starting at the age of 40 to help catch breast cancer early, but for some the diagnosis comes much earlier. Studies show a rise in deadly breast cancer in younger women.

Christy Millweard talked to a young woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 36. Watch her story this morning during the Breakfast Show and today on Heartland News at 5.

Could your microwave expose you to cancer? Perhaps, but not in the way you think. The microwaves themselves are safe, but there is some concern about toxins being released from plastic containers. To avoid this risk, use glass or ceramic containers.

Could you be more likely to get cancer? MD Anderson has set up a questionnaire to help identify your Cancer Risk. Information from the questionnaire can help identify how you can make steps toward a healthier lifestyle.

Tell your friends to sign up to receive this monthly newsletter to remind them to do their self-breast exam.
