Armed Ky. man taken into custody after making threats to hospital staff

CALDWELL COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A western Kentucky man was taken into custody Friday after state troopers say he armed with semi-automatic rifles and making threats to hospital staff.

Kenneth B. Fitzgerald, 26, of Marion, Kentucky, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, trafficking in marijuana greater than five pounds, and resisting arrest.

Fitzgerald was also served with warrants from Livingston County and the Kentucky State Police.

State police say Fitzgerald was known to be armed and had made threats against law enforcement and Livingston County Hospital employees.

Officers from Livingston County, Caldwell County and Crittenden County responded with the Kentucky State Police to a location near Mill Bluff Road, about two miles west of Fredonia.

Fitzgerald was found in a wooded area and was arrested by state police.

According to Ky. State Police, two semi-automatic rifles were recovered along with marijuana.

He was taken to the Caldwell County Detention Center.

Police say the investigation is continuing.
