MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A man wanted for keeping money from his employer was arrested on Friday in McCracken County.

Detectives say Bobby J. Whitis, 41, of Paducah was hired by a man to oversee some Lone Oak apartments. Whitis was reportedly responsible for collecting rent from various tenants and forwarding the money to the owner of the apartments.

The owner alleged over $4,000 that was collected by Whitis had not been forwarded to him.

A further investigation by detectives led to a phone conversation with Whitis about this complaint. During the phone conversation detectives say Whitis admitted to taking approximately $3900 from his employer and living off of the money.

An arrest warrant for Whitis was obtained on October 10. Contact with Whitis was made and he agreed to turn himself in to detectives but did not do so.

On April 2, deputies were investigating an unrelated offense in the area of Milliken trailer park in the Farley area of McCracken County and saw Whitis' truck.

A check of this same area was later conducted for Whitis and or the vehicle in question and deputies were unsuccessful in locating either.

Whitis was later found and arrested on Friday on an outstanding McCracken County warrant for theft by failing to make required disposition of property o/500, a class D felony.
