Easter sunrise service at Bald Knob Cross of Peace

ALTO PASS, IL (KFVS) -

Hundreds are expected to gather Easter morning to enjoy the sunrise service at the Bald Knob Cross of Peace.

The service has been held under one of the biggest landmarks in the Heartland since 1963.

This year will mark the 50th anniversary of the cross in Alto Pass, Illinois. Organizers say it's the 77th annual sunrise service.

This year's service will be the first with the new LED lighting.

The sunrise service is set to begin around 6:30 a.m.

Organizers say to plan to arrive early because of traffic. They plan for the service to last about one hour.

The visitor's center will be open for donuts and coffee following the service.

Look for more from Arnold Wyrick who will be live from the service on the Breakfast Show Sunday morning starting at 6 p.m.
