FRUITLAND, MO (KFVS) -

Five people were injured in a crash overnight in Cape Girardeau County.

It happened shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday on US 61 at Route C, two miles north of Fruitland, Mo.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, a GMC Yukon being driven northbound by Nathan D. Reisenbichler, 21, of Jackson, was hit from behind by a Chevy Silverado pickup driven by Joseph L. Bauwens, 20, of Perryville.

Troopers say Bauwens had moderate injuries. A 17-year-old passenger in Bauwens' pickup was seriously hurt, and two others, a 20-year-old and 19-year-old, had minor injuries.

Reisenbichler had minor injuries.

It is unknown if anyone in the pickup was wearing a seat belt. Troopers say Reisenbichler was fastened in a seat belt during the collision.

All of the injured were taken to a Cape Girardeau area hospital for treatment.
