Redhawks rebound at home, top UT Martin 8-5

(KFVS) -

After a 1-4 road swing, the Southeast Missouri State baseball team returned to Cape Girardeau and opened up a three-game series against UT Martin with an 8-5 win Thursday night. The Redhawks improved to 13-14 overall and 5-5 in the OVC. UT Martin falls 8-17 and 1-9 in conference.

SEMO freshman Alex Winkelman picked up the win in relief, striking out six in four innings of work.

Alex Lennington went 2-4 with a run scored, extending his hitting streak to nine games.

Ryan Barnes and Derek Gibson each drove in two runs for the Redhawks.

The two teams play Friday at 2 p.m. at Capaha Field.
