CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Police responded on the scene of a bank robbery in Cape Girardeau.

It happened at the Bank of Missouri at 1622 North Kingshighway in Cape.

Police got the call shortly after 10 a.m. Monday, according to Sgt. Jason Selzer with the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Bank employees say a white male wearing a baseball cap, a jacket with a hood and several layers of clothing underneath, entered the bank, wrote a note demanding money and handed it to the clerk.

No weapon was shown. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

No one was injured.

The case is still under investigation and no one is in custody at this time.

Police have K-9 units looking for the suspect.

"If we can get a dog there in a reasonable amount of time, they can actually track across concrete and grass," Officer Darin Hickey said. "It might give us a benefit of which direction they went."

The same bank was robbed in January.

"We are going to look at each case on an individual basis," Officer Hickey said.

Hickey says there's not enough evidence to link the two crimes at this point.
