2 charged in death of girl, 16, from drug overdose

LONDON, Ky. (AP) - A death investigation that began 10 months ago has led to the arrest of 2 people in eastern Kentucky.

Kenny Wayne Collins was arrested Saturday by the Clay County Sheriff's Office. Kentucky State Police arrested 52-year-old Brenda Bolton of Manchester on Friday.

The 45-year-old Collins is charged with murder and unlawful drug transaction with a minor.

Bolton is charged with complicity to murder and unlawful transaction.

The investigation began when a 16-year-old girl was found dead in May 2012 at a home. The cause of her death was determined to be a drug overdose.

Clay County Coroner Danny Finley said deaths from overdoses have sharply declined in the county - from 22 in 2011 to 8 in 2012.
