BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A familiar face will soon be roaming the halls at Miles College.

On Friday morning, school leaders announced actress Bern Nadette Stanis will teach there for one year. She played "Thelma" on ‘Good Times.'

Bern Nadette is no strangers to Miles College. She visited the campus last September. Now, Bern Nadette is going to be a professor in residence for one year. She will come to Miles once a month to teach a masters acting class.

Bern Nadette graduated from Julliard and has a lot of advice for performing arts students. She hopes the students will learn more about the journey to a professional acting career and the business aspect of the entertainment industry.

In a press release from Miles College, Bern Nadette says her advice to students is the same advice her mother gave her: "One day, the whole world's going to know your name."

This is not the first time Miles College has had a big name guest professor. Last year, Robin Givens from "Head of the Class" served as professor in residence.
