(WMC-TV) – A brawl between two Mid-South mothers got wild after police say one bit her neighbor's finger off.

The fight happened in an unlikely place.  The women started arguing in the front yard of a Bartlett neighborhood that is usually peaceful.

Police arrested Cynthia Johnson after they say another woman, Jackie Harris showed up at Johnson's home angry because she said Johnson's son was flirting with her daughter.

Investigators say around 11 p.m. Monday, Harris said she wanted to talk with her outside. That is when they started arguing and screaming.

Police said the women then started pushing and swinging at each other. At some point during the fight, Johnson bit off part of Harris' right ring finger.

Johnson told police, "I bit it off. O-F-F. Off and spit it out in the front yard."

"I don't know what to say. I mean I'm really shocked," neighbor Kevin Williams said.

Williams remembered seeing police in front of the house.

"We was coming home from work and we saw police down there," he said. "We didn't know what happened. It was unusual to see the police over here."

Bartlett firefighters found the finger in the grass, but doctors could not reattach it.

Cynthia Johnson is charged with aggravated assault.

Jackie Harris, the woman who lost her finger, said she did not want to do an interview or talk about it.

Cynthia Johnson is out on bond but did not return calls or answer the door to her house.
