Customer service ranks #1 in Heartland

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - It's a story that got hundreds talking on our facebook page. A recent study ranked Walmart as the worst company for customer service.

24-7 Wall Street ranks the top 9 worst companies when it comes to serving their customers based on findings from the American Consumer Satisfaction Index.

Other corporations that made the list include Sears, the Gap, CVS Caremark and Netflix.

So we wanted to find out where consumer service ranked in the Heartland.

"I don't do regular," David Allen, owner of Dad's Hot Dogs. "I do great hot dogs."

Customer service is more than a hello and thank you to him. It means money in his pocket.

"Customer service is important and important to me because I want that person back again," Allen said.

It's the same story at regional retail chain, Buchheit's.

"It's worth more than any item being a little cheaper," Store manager Tyler Russom said. "All the product that we are standing around, every other retailer can have. The only thing that makes it any different, the only thing that makes you want to come shop is the people that you are interacting with."

So whether it's a big business or a business located in their parking lot, customer service means the same thing.

"It's very basic," Allen said. "Unless somebody walks through that door and spends money, you don't have a door."
