Doe Run Fire Protection District moves into new fire station

DOE RUN, MO (KFVS) -

The Doe Run Fire Protection District has moved into a new fire station.

The new station is at 3235 Highway 221 next to Sherri's Quick Mart.

"We are very privileged to have moved into an excellence fire station, as this will be for the community we serve", said Mike Kelso, Fire Chief, Doe Run Fire Protection District. "The facility is much newer, larger, more energy efficient, and provides us the ability to have all fire trucks within one building. Additionally, this will help us reduce response times to emergencies. The new fire station is much larger and provides us offices, a training facility, and our hopes is to one day have a shelter within the fire station.

Kelso says he hopes to get everything organized and have an open house over the next few months so that public can see the station.

The district supports a population greater than 20,000 citizens and covers more square miles that any other fire protection organization within St Francois County, Missouri.
