20-year-old woman dies after icy road crash in Calloway County

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A 20-year-old woman has died after her car hit a semi in Calloway County, Kentucky.

According to Kentucky State Police, it happened on 7:30 Saturday morning on Highway 94 East in Calloway County.

Troopers say Shelby C. Theiss, 20, of Louisville died from her injuries.

A preliminary crash investigation shows the operator of Theiss was westbound and lost control of her Toyota Solara while crossing a snow and or ice covered bridge.

Theiss' vehicle traveled into the opposite lane of traffic and was hit by an eastbound 1996 Freightliner.

Murray-Calloway County EMS extricated Theiss and transported her to Murray-Calloway County Hospital, where she died shortly after arrival.

Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by KSP-Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Calloway County Sheriff's Department, Murray Police Department, and Calloway County Fire/Rescue.

The crash investigation is continuing.

Calloway County Sheriff's office has reports of black ice on roads and bridges Saturday and says to use caution while traveling.
