CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau teachers got some valuable training Monday.

Southeast Missouri State University police were at Cape Central High School Monday, telling teachers how to react in case of an armed intruder.

Assistant Superintendent Neil Glass says training like this is necessary.

"Unfortunately we've reached a day and age that this is become reality that faculty and staff need to be prepared in the case of an event should it take place here," Neil said.

The training included hands-on activities. Teachers also watched training videos.
