JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A 3.6 magnitude earthquake shook northeast Arkansas Saturday afternoon.
The United States Geological Survey centered the earthquake just southwest of Trumann, Arkansas. There are no reports of damage or injuries.
There are reports of the tremor being felt across Poinsett, Mississippi and Craighead Counties. The initial summary from the USGS listed the quake as a 3.9 magnitude. However, the organization lowered the intensity to a 3.6 after further examination.
Click HERE to view the report from the USGS. The area lies along the New Madrid Fault Zone known for hundreds of small earthquakes each year. The seismic zone is best known for the largest earthquakes in the continental U.S. in the winter of 1811-12.
