James Garrett, a spokesman for the Kansas City Fire Department, released this timeline of Tuesday's initial call up to the explosion.
The initial call came from the contractor to 911 at 4:54 p.m.
At 4:55 p.m. the Fire Department alerted Missouri Gas Energy that they had a reported pipe breach.
At 4:56 p.m. the Fire Department changed the priority of the call, and moved it up in priority.
At 4:58 p.m. Pumper 19 responded
At 5:04 p.m. Pumper 19 arrived on scene - some fire personnel go into JJ's
As a precaution, Fire asks JJ's staff to extinguish all flames
At 5:16 p.m. MGE "snag man" first responder arrived on scene
At 5:17 p.m. Pumper 19 went "in-service"
At 5:31 p.m. MGE's second person arrives on scene
At 5:47 p.m. MGE has a third person arrive on scene.
At some point, prior to the explosion, a 3 person crew with a backhoe from MGE arrived on scene.
Prior to the explosion MGE backhoe attempts to vent leak by opening up concrete in front of JJ's
Prior to the explosion at 6:04 p.m., MGE had 6 people on scene.
