CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Five-hundred fifty Boy Scouts participated in the Alpha Phi Omega Merit Badge University at Southeast Missouri State on Saturday.

Volunteers handed out merit badges for art, first aid, citizenship in the world, and engineering.

Saturday marked the 31st year for the event.

It is one of the biggest events of its kind in the Midwest. Scouts traveled from as far away as Texas and Ohio just for this event.
