2 seriously injured in wreck on Interstate 55 in Scott County

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Emergency crews in Scott County raced to the 87 mile marker of Interstate 55 Wednesday night after getting reports of a serious wreck.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says an SUV ran off the road and down an embankment and overturned.

Officials said 23-year-old Nicholas Whitly and 20-year-old Andrew Williams, both of Sikeston, had to be cut out of the vehicle.

Whitly and Williams were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

The wreck did not block the interstate.
