Woman's death linked to soda addiction

A coroner has linked a New Zealand woman's death to her soda addiction.

According to the story, she died from a heart attack about two years ago.

A man identified as her partner says Harris was practically addicted to Coca-Cola.

He says first thing she'd do in the morning was have a drink of Coke beside her bed, and it was the last thing she'd do at night.

The woman, who died in 2010 of a heart attack at age 30, allegedly drank 2.6 gallons of Coca Cola and smoked 30 cigarettes every day.

Reports say there is enough evidence in the case to say the woman likely wouldn't have died when and how she did if it weren't for her excessive soda drinking.

One of the woman's eight children is said to have been born without tooth enamel due to the woman's addiction.

An MSN Now source also says the amount of soda the woman drank was more than 11 times the recommended daily sugar intake.

The Coca-Cola company released an official statement regarding the incident:

"Our thoughts and sympathies remain with the family of Natasha Harris. We have always tried to be as respectful as possible during this difficult time and limit our comments on this tragic situation. The Coroner acknowledged that he could not be certain what caused Ms Harris' heart attack. Therefore we are disappointed that the Coroner has chosen to focus on the combination of Ms Harris' excessive consumption of Coca-Cola, together with other health and lifestyle factors, as the probable cause of her death. This is contrary to the evidence that showed the experts could not agree on the most likely cause."
