CAIRO, IL (KFVS) -

A Cairo, Illinois home went up in flames early Sunday morning and crews are calling it suspicious.

According to Cairo Fire Fighter Brandon Manker, the fire started around 3:30 a.m. Sunday at a home on the 400 block of 25th Street.

A neighbor who noticed the flames called it in.

Manker says flames were shooting out of the roof while crews were fighting the blaze.

The home is considered a total loss. Utilities were hooked up to the house, but not on.

Manker says the fire is considered suspicious. The state fire marshal was called in to investigate the fire.

Cairo Auxiliary Fire Department, Mound City Fire Department and Wickliffe Fire Department assisted in fighting the blaze.
