HICKMAN, KY (KFVS) -

Kentucky transportation officials say the Dorena-Hickman Ferry is closed Sunday due to high winds.

Captain Ed Floyd reports winds are out of the southeast at about 20 mile per hour.  The wind, combined with the direction and high water on the Mississippi River, have created hazardous operating conditions, so the ferry has closed for the rest of Sunday.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry is expected to resume normal winter operating hours on Monday morning.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects KY 1354 at Hickman, Kentucky, with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Missouri.
