SIU couldn't hold on to beat Indiana State, losing 66-65 Saturday afternoon.
After upsetting Wichita State on Tuesday, the Salukis were trying to put together back-to-back wins for the first time in Missouri Valley play this season. The Salukis had the lead for most of the game, being up by as many as 12 points.
However, the Sycamores Jake Odum hit the game winning shot with 18 seconds left giving them the lead and eventually the win. Odum had 13 points and led the team with five assists. R.J. Mahurin had a team-high 16 points and three blocks.
Jalen Pendelton lead the Salukis with 17 points and had seven rebounds. This performance comes after hitting the game-winning shot in the final two seconds against the Shockers on Tuesday night. Desmar Jackson had 16 points and also recorded seven rebounds.
SIU fell to 9-15 for the season and 2-11 in the MVC. They next take the court against Evansville on Wednesday at home.
