BOLLINGER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The kitchen of a three bedroom home was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon in Bollinger County, Missouri.

Marble Hill Fire Chief Jim Bollinger says he had recently left he scene of a fire in Patton Saturday and was called to this fire around 1 p.m. on Route B.

The kitchen was gutted in the blaze that started in a wastebasket, according to Bollinger.

The rest of the home received heavy smoke damage.

Fire fighters were able to stop fire from spreading past the kitchen.

Bollinger says house is repairable because the flames never reached the attic of the structure.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

Noal Cowell and his daughter live in the home.  Family and friends helped Cowell move out some belongings after the fire.

Cowell says that he bought the house right out of high school and has lived in it since except in 2005-06 when he fought in Iraq with the Missouri National Guard.
