OMAHA, IL (KFVS) -

The Saline County Sheriff's Office reports that Illinois Route 1 is closed in downtown Omaha due to a fire.

Omaha is in Gallatin County in southeast Illinois.

The Omaha Fire Chief says they received a call from a neighbor around 11 a.m. Friday of a home on fire.

No one was home when the fire began. The home is considered a complete loss.

Firefighters believe the fire began in the front, but do not know how it started.

Departments from five other areas responded to the fire. As of 1:30 p.m., crews were still on the scene.

The sheriff's office is asking drivers to use alternate routes and be aware of responding emergency equipment.
