CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - It may be a little too early in the season to call tonight a must-win game against SIU Edwardsville, but it's pretty close for the Redhawks.

And that's what they got on Thursday night at the Show Me Center. The Redhawks beat the Cougars 76-65.

And, another highlight was when Senior guard Marland Smith broke the Southeast all-time career 3-point record.

According to gosoutheast, Redhawk Nino Johnson finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds and 7 blocks.

As far as the race for the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, the top eight eligible teams qualify and Southeast was locked in a three way tie for seventh, and SIUE is in sixth place.

The Cougars defeated the Redhawks by three points in the first meeting between the two teams exactly two weeks ago at Edwardsville.

Southeast is now 4-and-7 in the OVC, SIUE is 4-and-6.
