2nd grader suspended from school for using pretend weapon

(KFVS) - An elementary school student in Colorado has been suspended after using a pretend grenade during recess at school.

The boy was playing 'Rescue the World' on the playground, according to Yahoo News, and was pretending to throw a grenade into a box of what he called evil forces.

The seven-year-old was suspended for using the fake weapon on the grounds that his imaginary efforts were against school policy.

The school, Mary Blair Elementary, has rules against both real and fake fighting and weapons.

The boy's mom has said in media interviews that the suspension seems irrational and that her child should not be punished for his imaginary game.

The boy was just as confused about the suspension saying, "I just can't believe I got dispended."
