Fire destroys diesel shop in De Soto, Ill. - KFVS12 News & Weather Cape Girardeau, Carbondale, Poplar Bluff

Fire destroys diesel shop in De Soto, Ill.

Fire has destroyed a diesel shop at Route 149 and N Oak Street in De Soto, Ill.

Crews were called to the scene around 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

De Soto fire chief, Tom Manis, tells Heartland News when crews arrived, the building was in flames.

Several area fire departments were called to help fight the blaze.

The chief also said the fire spread to a nearby building, but crews were able to put it out before there was much damage.

As crews fought the fire, train tracks that were close to the fire had to be temporarily shut down. The tracks are now open, but slow moving.

No one was hurt in the fire.

The state fire marshal will be on the scene later today to investigate the cause.
