The St. Louis Cardinals signed shortstop Ronny Cedeno Monday to a one-year contract worth 1.15 million.
Cedeno played 78 games with the New York Mets last season, batting a .259 with four homeruns and 22 RBIs.
The 30-year-old has played eight seasons with various ball clubs like the Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh, and Seattle.
He could compete with Rafael Furcal for a starting spot, with Furcal coming off a torn elbow ligament.
