MAYFIELD, KY (KFVS) -

A new mom and dad are behind bars after police say they tried to sell drugs with their baby in the back seat.

It happened Saturday in Graves County, Kentucky. According to Sheriff Dewayne Redmon, officers set up an undercover operation to buy methamphetamine from Kyle McClain and Brittany Hoover.

The couple allegedly agreed to sell drugs to agents at a gas station in Mayfield. When police cars pulled up to the meeting place, Hoover reportedly stepped on the gas and tried to drive away.

Officers say she ran a red light in front of Graves County High School. Police eventually stopped the car and surrounded it near the entrance to the hospital.

When officers approached they say they saw Hoover and McClain's six-week old child in the back seat of the car.

McClain and Hoover now face drug and wonton endangerment charges.
