BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Gun control is a hot topic across the country right now with some members of law enforcement saying they won't support the president's gun control proposals.

In fact, two Missouri state representatives are co-sponsoring a bill that would make it illegal for federal agents to enforce the new gun control laws in Missouri.

The sheriff of Osage County says he will not enforce any law that goes against the 2nd Amendment.

Several sheriffs in the Heartland have expressed similar sentiment.

Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs says he's drafting a letter that he's working to get other local sheriffs to sign as well.

That letter aims to show lawmakers that our sheriff's intend to protect the second amendment, and that numerous members of law enforcement stand together.

Perry County, Missouri Sheriff Gary Schaff says he's already sent an email to the White House over the issue.
