Man arrested after meth lab, small child found in hotel room

DYERSBURG, TN (KFVS) -

Dyersburg police arrested a man after finding a meth lab in a hotel room with his 1-year-old child.

Barrett Long, 30, is charged with initiate manufacture of methamphetamine, armed in the commission of a dangerous felony, and aggravated child abuse.

Dyersburg police responded to a call of a suidical man at the Budget Inn Hotel Monday afternoon around 3:30.

They found Long and a suspected meth lab inside the room along with his 1-year-old child.

Long was arrested. Police also seized a .22 caliber handgun and items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine.

The Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force was called to the scene to assist with the disposal of the hazardous chemicals from the active meth lab.

Barrett's child was taken to the Dyersburg Regional Hospital due to the exposure of the dangerous chemicals associated with the active meth lab. The Department of Children Services was contacted and responded to the hospital.

Barrett was taken to the Dyer County Justice Complex pending a court appearance in Dyersburg City Court Tuesday.

Officers quarantined the room pending the hotel owner having the room cleaned by a certified cleaning crew.
