Porter out for rest of Southeast's season after re-fracturing foot

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Southeast Missouri forward Michael Porter will miss the rest of the season after re-fracturing his left foot against Tennessee Tech on Jan. 19, according to Southeast Missouri State University.

Porter, a Sikeston native, initially broke his foot in October and was sidelined for the first 20 games before making his return Saturday. He scored six points and grabbed three rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench against the Golden Eagles. Porter left the game with 8:27 remaining and did not play again.

"We were so disappointed to learn Monday morning that Michael is out for the season after re-fracturing his foot," said Southeast head coach Dickey Nutt in a press release. "We are sad for him because, naturally, he wanted to play. I'm hoping that his big contribution Saturday night will inspire our team. Michael is the heart and soul of our team. He is truly an inspiration to us all."

Southeast returns to action at SIU Edwardsville Thursday.
