Redhawks take Skyhawks down to wire, but fall 82-71

Southeast Missouri State women's basketball trailed 72-71 to UT Martin with 1:30 left, only for the Skyhawks to finish the game on a 10-0 run and win 82-71 Wednesday night at the Show Me Center.

The Redhawks led by as many as eight points in the first half before UT Martin pulled within one at halftime. Semo held the high-scoring Skyhawks to just 29 percent shooting in the first half, but UT Martin shot a scorching 54.8% in the second half.

Five Redhawks scored in double figures, led by Brittany Harriel, Allyson Bradshaw and Olivia Hackman with 13 points each. Kara Wright and Bailie Roberts had 10 points apiece.

Jasmine Newsome scored 36 points (24 in the second half) for UT Martin while backcourt mate Heather Butler added 23.

The Redhawks fall to 2-3 in the OVC, and return to the Show Me Center Monday when they host Morehead State.
