POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -
It's an exciting day and an exciting month for Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Patients will move to the new $173 million facility in two weeks, but the media got a sneak peak at the hospital today.
The seven story hospital has 250 patient rooms, and emergency room, cardiac care, and will offer neurosurgery.
While patients won't move into the hospital until January 26, EMS and hospital staff ran through a mock move-in drill Tuesday morning in which they practiced moving patients from the old campus to the new building.
"The challenge is that there are so many people involved helping us do it," said Tiffany Jenkins, Marketing Director for Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. "We're trying to do this in a four to six hour period so everyone needs to know their role because the safety and comfort of our patients is our number one priority."
The new hospital is part of the Eight Points development on Oak Grove Road which is slated to include shopping, restaurants, and other amenities.
