Despite rain and thunderstorms last week, hundreds of people showed up to help give the gift of life in the heartland blood drive.

According to the Red Cross, almost 1,200 people turned out to donate blood.

The Red Cross says this is a huge number.

Remember, blood drives continue throughout the Heartland.
