Salukis win first conference game, 76-71 over Indiana State

The Salukis ended a five-game losing streak and won their first Missouri Valley Conference game of the season, 76-71 over Indiana State Saturday night at SIU Arena.

Desmar Jackson tied a career-high with 29 points, adding 8 rebounds and 3 steals for Southern Illinois, helping the Salukis snap a nine-game losing streak in Missouri Valley games.

SIU played smothering defense, forcing 19 turnovers and coming up with nine steals.

Jeff Early grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds, while Dantiel Daniels returned from an ankle injury that cost him two-weeks worth of games, scoring seven points in 22 minutes.
