Springfield man arrested for Christmas Eve fire

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A suspect has been arrested for a Springfield fire on Christmas Eve.

42-year-old Lorenzo Gaines has been arrested for allegedly starting the fire at 185-187 Northampton Ave., the same address where he resides.

During their investigation, officials noticed him at the scene of the fire with minor burns to his hands.

Officials also say he's responsible for attempting to burn 385 Worthington St. on Dec. 21.

No one was injured in the apartment fire that displaced nine people the day before Christmas.
