PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Two Paducah men are charged with a payday loan armed robbery that happened in October.

Cortez M. Hill, 23, of Clark Street, was charged with robbery first-degree.

Stephen J. Lowe, 26, of Berger Road was charged with robbery first degree and first-degree persistent felony offender.

Over the past ten weeks detectives say they've worked hard to identify the two masked gunmen that robbed the Fast Pay Day Loans on October 10.

Investigators say both Lowe and Hill are convicted felons and were already in the McCracken County Regional Jail on unrelated charges. They had been incarcerated post the robbery in October.

Detectives were able to locate and identify the vehicle used in the getaway, whom the vehicle belonged to, where and how the clothes worn in the robbery were disposed of and numerous other details related to the crime.

On the day of the robbery, detectives were able to locate and collect fingerprint evidence that was later found to be of sufficient quality for entry into the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). The comparison was a match to Cortez Hill.

As the investigation continued, an individual was identified as having purchased and provided a firearm to another individual that was identified as being Stephen Lowe.

Detectives will likely bring charges against this individual and is possible that the charges will be sought as federal charges instead of state charges through federal officers.
