WATERLOO, Ill. (AP) - Authorities in southwestern Illinois say the arrest of a suspected thief led them to a wooded campsite stash of more than 700 stolen items.
Monroe County Sheriff Dan Kelly tells the Belleville News-Democrat (http://bit.ly/WsED7n) that investigators still haven't assessed a value of the recovered items. Those items include an all-terrain vehicle and a 1997 Chevrolet truck. The suspect hasn't been charged in any of those thefts, which Kelly says date to at last September. The suspect was being held Thursday on a previous theft charge and parole warrants out of Missouri, where he had lived.
Kelly urges anyone who has had items stolen in recent months to contact his department. He declined to publicly identify the campsite's location.
